Devlog #02 - Logistics Foundations Are Taking Shape
The development of Relic Commander continues to move forward on a system that may seem discreet, but is actually essential: the entire logic behind transfers between bays, cargo holds, planets, and fleets.
Recently, the work has focused on building the database concepts and the overall organizational structure required to make this system work properly. At the same time, the user interface and the transfer backend have also made good progress. This is an important step, because behind an action that may look simple from the player’s point of view lies a core structure that supports a large part of the game.
The system is designed to manage exchanges between planets, ships, and fleets, with an architecture built from the start to support future use cases across Relic Commander. The goal is not only to make current transfers work, but to establish a foundation solid enough to support upcoming mechanics without having to redesign everything later.
One of the most interesting parts of this progress concerns transfers to a fleet. When a fleet receives resources or items, the distribution is not random: it is handled through logistical roles assigned to ships, with deterministic logic, server-side validation, and automatic distribution. This ensures behavior that is consistent, reliable, and suitable for more advanced systems in the future.

This technical foundation is not only useful for manual transfers. It will also serve later as part of the Fleet Commander and the automation of fleet routines, making it an important building block for the next stages of development.
On that note, the roadmap is evolving with the addition of a new section: #15 - Fleet Commander.
The Fleet Commander will be a tool that allows players to program routines for their fleets. The idea is to provide a system capable of automating certain tasks and behaviors, pushing the strategic and logistical depth of the game even further. It is an important feature in the overall vision of Relic Commander, and this new transfer foundation is one of the necessary building blocks to make it possible.
Development is therefore continuing to move forward, not only on what is visible on screen, but also on the underlying infrastructure that will allow the game to grow in depth, consistency, and long-term possibilities.
